Common questions

Are the typing games free to play?
Yes — Starfall and Jetstream are free for everyone. No account required to play. Signing in saves your scores to the global leaderboard and tracks personal bests across sessions.
How is Starfall different from a typing test?
Starfall is a survival game: words fall from the top of the screen and you have to type them before they reach the bottom. Accuracy determines survival, not just speed. A missed word doesn't end the session — it costs health — so you practice staying composed under accumulating pressure, not just typing fast for 60 seconds.
What does Jetstream train that a regular typing test doesn't?
Jetstream uses literary quotes and longer text passages. It trains sustained focus, pacing through punctuation and uncommon words, and the ability to maintain speed over a full passage rather than a short burst. It's closer to the experience of real writing work than a random-word speed test.
Do the games support alternative keyboard layouts?
Yes. Both games work with any keyboard layout set in your SureTyping account. If you're learning Colemak or Dvorak, game scores are tracked separately from your QWERTY practice so you can measure progress on each layout independently.
Is there a multiplayer option?
SureTyping has a separate real-time multiplayer race mode at /race where you compete head-to-head against other typists on the same passage. Starfall and Jetstream are single-player, but both feed into global leaderboards so you're competing against every other player's best score.
