How fast do I need to type for the GRE AWA?
About 40 to 50 WPM sustained on unfamiliar prose at 95% accuracy is enough to write a strong 500 to 600 word response comfortably. Lower is workable with a simpler structure; higher is wasted unless your accuracy holds.

Accuracy. If you are at 91%, get to 95% before touching speed, then hold 95% while nudging WPM up two or three points per week. Track the two numbers separately.
